One of my favorite games on the Sega Genesis was a co-op, run-n-gun shooter called Midnight Resistance. For those of you that might not have played, or even heard of Midnight Resistance before, you have been missing out. While at first-glance the game might look like a simple Contra clone, if you take the time to get to know it, it's so much more.
The biggest difference you will see is your ability to aim. In Midnight Resistance you can aim in one of eight directions while moving in another; you can even aim in different directions while crawling or jumping. Aiming isn't the only thing that is different; the game supports a robust power-up and upgrade system, too. After defeating certain enemies you will collect keys, and at the end of each stage you can purchase new weapons, power-ups, and extra lives using those keys. However, if you die, your upgrades and keys will go flying "Sonic style" and must be reclaimed before they dissapear or another player claims them as their own. The game has a total of nine stages, and depending on how many keys you collected you will get a different ending.
If you are a fan of the Contra series or just run-n-gun shooters, why not give Midnight Resistance a try?
